Social Wellness Club
The design of a social wellness club aligned with the club’s mission: encourage health. The materials, lighting, and architectural design were inspired by the concept of yinyang and the flow of energy.
Stop by for an hour, or a whole day.
Located in the heart of downtown L.A. the social club sits on the 10-12th floors and rooftop of a historic building.
The Concept
The sine curve is an interpretation of ying and yang symbol. It divides the building into bright areas above the curve and slightly darker and cozier areas under the curve, as seen in the sectional perspective above.

Go with the flow.
A sine curve divides the building plan into two halves: calm activities on the left and energetic spaces on the right.
Materiality
The intensity of saturation of materials changes depending on the side of the building. The palette is slightly more desaturated to encourage relaxation in the calm areas.

Quiet Level
The 10th floor of the social wellness club was designed to encourage rest. The meditation studio and individual quiet rooms use natural materials in neutral tones to encourage the mind to feel at peace.
